SEE ALL OF THE THINGS!

Ten things I want to see/do while in Japan!

1. BATHE IN GREEN TEA OR WINE OR COFFEE OR SAKE
Hakone Kowakien Yunessun is a hot springs amusement park and spa resort that I really really really want to go to. This place looks like the most fun a girl could have while bathing. Other than bathing in the beverages listed above, some of the other 'water attractions' they have, include: Foot Bathing Place, Rodeo Mountain, Ancient Roman Bath and The God's Agean Sea. In 2007 they had a RAMEN SPA BATH. Can you believe that? Unfortunately they don't have that one anymore but a girl can dream.

2. CAT ISLAND
Cat Island, officially known as Tashiro Island, apparently is home to more living cats than humans. There are cat buildings, cat statues- basically just awesome cat stuff everywhere!

3. RABBIT ISLAND
Once an Island that produced poisonous gases during the war, Okunoshima, is now home to hundreds of rabbits! ^_^ I want to go to there.

4. AOGASHIMA
This island looks COOL. It's remote and isolated and not a lot of people live there. The whole island is basically a volcanic crater with a smaller volcano inside. There are two ways of getting to the island: by helicopter or by boat. If I have the chance, I will definitely go by helicopter and pretend I'm the blonde lady from Jurassic Park:

5. GUNKAN JIMA
Once a seriously over populated (the most populated place per square metre in the world, in fact) little mining Island owned by Mitsubishi in 1890, this island is now a complete ghost town. It looks so creepy and amazing. Some poor guy hired by Google had to walk around it all day with a giant camera on his back to provide the street view for Maps.

6.  かなまら祭り~ SHINTO FESTIVAL OF THE STEEL PHALLUS
Yep. It's exactly what it sounds like but probably better irl. Just penis things everywhere. I think it used to be a festival about fertility but now I think it raises awareness for STDs or raises money for HIV? A great cause, but I'm actually going to just laugh at everyone carrying around huge penis things.Huffington Post have a nice little post up about it and here's a fun video I found on Youtube:

7. JAPAN'S LOVE HOTELS
Or, 'Pleasure Palaces', as I've been thinking of them.
Again, exactly what it sounds like. These are hotels designed for the sole purpose of enjoying sexual activites. Going off what I have heard, they are kitschy and great. And probably have a bed that revolves or something. Even from the outside these buildings are wonderful. I love that the Japanese put such aesthetic detail into the things they make.

8. 養老天命反転地 YORO PARK: THE SITE OF REVERSIBLE DESTINY
This place looks like so much fun in the sense that it's a gigantic dangerous play ground for adults to play on. The whole thing was designed by artists and it just looks really really cool to explore.. And also really clever as well. Having not been there, I'm probably not doing it much justice but you can read more about it on Tofugu. To give you an idea, some of the names of places within the park include the following: Cleaving Hall, The Gate of Non-Dying and the Trajectory Membrane Gate.
Wow. Going.

9. TOTORO HOUSE
Okay. So I LOVE Studio Ghibli. The idea of this kind of makes me wee myself a little.
In 2005, some amazing person built this house to replicate the home featured in Miyazaki's My Neighbour Totoro. CHECK IT OUT

たのしみにしている!!!

Maybe I can go here with my Japanese family.. They LOVE Totoro. When I get there I'll put up a post solely on their home. It is beyond adorable and is filled with Ghibli paraphernalia.

10. I can't decide what my tenth great thing should be! If you have any cool suggestions please let me know!
